one's reality is shaped by one's perceptions

envision this for a moment: a person (A) who has yellow-tinted shades on and a person who has red shades (B) gaze at a blue wall. person A goes, "wow, this wall is so green, we could never paint it blue."

and person B goes, "you can't be serious. the wall is purple, it can easily be turned into blue!"

despite the difference in their attitudes they're both perceiving the blue wall incorrectly. the blue wall remains blue.
