just found out my favourite writer passed years ago

I googled up to see how many books I still hadn't read from The Spook's series, my favourite book series of the whole world since I was 12, and just found out Joseph Delaney, the author, had passed in 2022. How on Earth did I not know about that?! I used to be completely obsessed with The Spook's books when I was a teen. I used to buy them each as they came out, but it always took a long time because I had to wait for them to be translated to Portuguese and published here in Brazil. I think the Brazilian publisher stopped launching them here in the tenth book, unfortunately. My English was way worse then, so I didn't try reading the rest of the series in the original language. I'm actually re-reading the first one right now with my boyfriend, so I hope we get on with the series and I can read the last ones in English.

I was so hyperfixated on these books, I joined a WhatsApp group full of strangers that liked it. The group was called Wardstone and I loved the people there, even if the majority of them were adults and I was just a teen. We met once, when we all went to Joseph Delaney's book signing in Brazil. It was one of the best moments of my life, I even tried to say something in English to him, the other guys asked him to say a message to our group and recorded it. I simply took all my eight books to the signing and he signed each one of them with my name and all. Joseph Delaney will forever be my favourite author, I'm so glad I could meet him before his passing.
